Hi all
Having exchanged information with Alan H who has a post on here about John Nash and also seen several 'trees' around with Freeman Philbey who is married / associated with both or either Sarah Warner or Sarah Bryant mine is different Freeman Philbey

As we have come to expect our ancestors made nothing easy and my Freeman Philbey married a Sarah but I am 99.9% certain it was neither of the two I mention above!

So can anyone take a look at the PR's for Wendover / Gt Missenden circa 1792 on wards for a marriage of Freeman Philbey  and see if he is there marrying a Sarah?????please.

Sarah was born circa 1784 in the Wendover area, she died there in 1870, Freeman died 1862.

Their first child I have was Ephrahim B 1813 Lee Common

Thanks for taking the time to read this

Hi Steve,
Please post what you find eg a possible Marriage, so others in the future can find it who may be researching this Family.

Now back to your original question Nigel.
Have you considered a much earlier Marriage than 1813ish?

As 1851 census has Sarah born c 1779, Wendover, Bucks and as Brides usually married in their own Parish a possible;

17 August 1802,
St Mary the Virgin, Wendover, Buckinghamshire
Freeman PHILBY
Sarah FIELD, by Lic
(Source FreeREG)

IGI has a Submitted Freman Filby born to Freeman/Sarah 1807, Lee, Bucks

1841 Census Freeman/Sarah have ;
HENRY 1826
WILLIAM 1826
HANNAH 1816

1851 Sarah is with Ephraim born c 1813
Henry is now born c 1821
So there are possibly quite a few Children I have not found

EPHRAIM Filby, 15 Sept 1813, Lee, Bucks
JONES Filby, 09 January 1817, Lee, Bucks
Both to FREEMAN/SARAH
IGI Extracted Records.

Trish / Steve
ALL this info fits and makes sense but I have damaged the wall in the small dark room where I have been banging my head all day trying to sort it out!!!!
So many Freeman's, Sarah's and variations of PHilby spelling - BUT I am nearly there thanks to both of you!
I shall tell all after the weekend which I shall post on here so that it may help others should they come this way in the future!

Thank you both again for all the info

I think Missenden and Ballinger will be the place to unlock this lot.

Sarah Kibbles baptism not found in The Lee, nor Wendover.

Sorry about the damage, but when it's all laid out in front of you, it will all make perfect sense.........Won't it.!!!! ;D

Good luck, I'm sure you'll do it.

Just as a matter of interest  Philbies, and variations, appear in The Lee from 1755(Baptism of William Philby to William & Elizabeth) to 1898(the burial of Sophia Philby).

In Wendover, the Philbeys start in 1801 with the marriage of Ann Philbey and ends in 1901 with the baptism of Victoria Winifred Ivy Philbey in 1901.

Obviously they carried on after those dates, but the PR's I have access to only go up to 1901.

2. Freeman Philby B C1768 m C 1788 Elizabeth ???? B C????

1.   John and Hester had;
1.1 Freeman B C 1776 m 1802 Sarah Field B 1782 d o Ephraim Field and Mary ????

2.   Freeman and Elizabeth had;
2.2 Joseph B 1789, Mary B 1793, Hester B 1795, James B 1796

1.1 Freeman and Sarah (nee Field) had;
1.2 i    Mary B 1810 D 1823,

There is obviously more and I can't make the burials all tie up but I am reasonably comfortable with what i have which includes X referring to witnesses at weddings, places, occ's, more wives and husbands and children (of whom I have loads and loads) etc etc who I have not included above.

I could not have done this with out you and am delighted so far. I am ordering the various CD so i can X check some more info. and try and find who heads the tree here!!!

See, easy wasn't it. ;D

Once you have access to the Wendover and The Lee PR's(I recommend you purchase these), you'll unravel a lot more.

In the meantime, if you have any more specific requests, please ask.  Please keep it simple, coz I'm a simple man. ;D

Happy to help you.
