Help with Reynolds/McGrary please
« on: Friday 21 January 11 23:56 GMT (UK) »
Hello all

Can somebody please help me a lookup on a tree via another site?
My 6xGrt Grandfather Bernard Reynolds married Martha McGrary and had all their kids in Stockport.
I cannot find their marriage in England and know they both came from Ireland (Unsure which part).
Their first child that I am aware of was born 1845 in Stockport, his name was Thomas Reynolds.
If someone can help I will PM them the details of the tree.
Many thanks

Danny

If the marriage was in Ireland you will need to establish the family religion and what part of Ireland (i.e. townland or parish) the marriage took place, to search for parish records which might be available.

I'm not really sure how to go about finding this info out except for trying to find where the surname's are most popular.
There is someone with the family on Ancestry but I cannot see what info they may have.

The best way to try to find out where they came from is to find Bernard and Martha on all the English census returns you can - later ones can give a county, or even more detail like the name of a town.

see : My Ancestor came from Ireland - where do I start?

There are at least two public trees with Bernard (c1816) and Martha (c1821) - both give place of birth for them as Ireland with no other details.

One of the trees has two sources attached for this couple - 1851 and 1861 census.

I reckon that unless I stumble across some info there is not much to go with. Thank you for looking for me.

Hello Danny,

Not sure how old this post is, but I’ve hit the same brick wall with Martha and Bernard.  Their grandson James Welsh is my great grandfather.

Just wondered if you got anywhere?
