There is a marriage between a Thomas Murphy and Emma Davis in 1898 Liverpool Register Office or a Registrar attended Church.

A possible  ??? in the 1901:

24 Edinburgh Street, Everton

Thomas Murphy, Head, Mar, 40, Wheelwright, Liverpool
Emma, Wife, Mar, 31, Liverpool
Frederick, Son, 9, Liverpool
William, Son, 4, Liverpool
Emma, Daur, 1, Liverpool

No guarantee it is the correct family.

Hi Mosie and thanks for this!

Could you confirm the surnames of the children please particularly the boys and their relationship to Thomas.

Thanks  :)

Hi,

Sorry, the surname on this particular census was Murphy for all of them.  The relationship to Thomas is as shown.  It is by no means unusual for step children to be recorded like this on one census, only to find that they have reverted back to the correct surname on the next.

Regards

Hi Mo

Many thanks for confirming the name and relationship status.  As you say it may have been different 10 years later or it would have been if the mother hadn't possibly died and the children, or at least William, placed in an industrial school, in 1906.

I'm beginning to think you've found the right family! I hope at some point I'll be able to find at least Thomas and Emma junior 10 years later.

Thank you so much
Jan
