hi can anyone help please !! i am looking for a friends grandfather alfred lessig . she doesnt no his rank or reg all she knows is that he was born in germany and was a prisoner of war in this country , he was sent  to work on orchard farm saxilby lincs where he met ant later married her grandmother lucy. we would like to know how you find out more about him like what he did in the army and his rank aand hopefully where abouts he was from . we think he was born in oct 1915

as far as i can make out there are no records held in eng for pow,s they were all sent back to the relevant countries after the war but also the red cross were sent them as well so at least 2 avenues open to you to search check out this site  gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=44435 it,s a forum discussion someones asking the same question as you it may give you a better insight in your quest .
