Research help in London
« on: Monday 24 January 11 12:04 GMT (UK) »
Does anyone know the name of a good (and affordable!) researcher in London?  I'm interested in getting copies of a folio in the Westminster Diocesan Archives in Kensington.

Thanks,
Bridget

Have you contacted them directly to see how much they will charge to copy and post this to you?

Hi Ruskie
I've sent them three emails, and one letter, and have heard nothing back, though I first contacted them in November 2010.

Oh I see, that's not good, especially when they do provide an email address, presumably so they can be contacted.  :-\

Hi

The National Archives has a list of independent researches who work at TNA (and many are likely to work at other archives in London). Some will have websites so you can have a look at what they say there.

They may just be a bit slow replying?

'About the Westminster Diocesan Archives
Since the Archivist is a priest with parish duties, the collection is normally only accessible two days a week. It is also closed for a month in the summer and during Holy week, the Christmas and Easter Octaves and other holydays.'

Thanks, Valda, for the additional information.

By a very strange coincidence--after two months!--I just heard from the Westminster Diocesan Archives!
