Hi

I'm looking for any information regarding William BANKS. The family know that he fought in the first world war, but little other than that.

William Banks was born 17 March 1899 in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Northumberland. Father: Peter William (known as William) Banks. Mother: Ann McCabe.

After William returned, he married Isabella Bell on 2 July 1920 in Castle Ward, Newcastle.

What the family has always been told was that William was fighting in Italy. He was gassed in the trenches and went missing for anywhere from 2 months to 2 years. After returning from war he suffered lifelong health problems from being gassed.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I apologise that I can't tell you more than that.
