Margaret DEWAR, married Q1 1889, Fulham, died 1890 (Willesborough) Kent
« on: Wednesday 26 January 11 07:09 GMT (UK) »
I'm trying to find out some family details for a Margaret DEWAR.  She married Robert CRUST (reg Q1 1899 Fulham 1a 395), had a daughter Maggie Wraight CRUST (reg Q1 1890 Fulham 1a 209, baptised 20 Apr 1890, Willesborough, Kent), died (reg Q4 1890 East Ashford 2a 495, age 25 - suggests born 1865), buried 17 Oct 1890, Willesborough, Kent.

Robert CRUST's parents lived in Willesborough, and Maggie Wraight CRUST is with Robert's parents on the 1891 census.

Any help much appreciated.
CRUST - Kent (Kingsnorth, Mersham)
BEATON - Isle of Mull
GODDEN - Ruckinge, Kent

The marriage took place on 3 Jan 1889 at St Thomas's Hammersmith.

Robert 27,a bachelor, carpenter of 54 Conningham? Rd, father George Crust Inspector.

Margaret 23 a spinster,same address,her father William Dewar a shepherd(decd)

Witnesses- Janet McWhirter Dewar and Billie someone( really bad writing!)

All signed their own names.

By the way, the minute you put in the name Margaret Dewar- nearly all the results come up in Scotland!

Hi,

In regards to Carol's post & the witness at Margaret's wedding this could be helpful.

The pilot family search site has a Janet Mcwhirter Dewar born 19/06/1867 in Bargrennan, Kirkcudbright, Scotland. Parents William Dewar & Margaret Rodger. Also to the same parents Margaret Dewar born 21/09/1865 in Minnigaff, Kirkcudbright.

Hope this helps.

I did have a feeling that Janet may have been Margaret's sister  ;)

But didn't have time to take the research any further earlier today!

Thanks Sharon  ;D

Well done Sharon- you're on a roll now  ;D
Looks very possible with her 'sister' having her grandma's surname as her middle one.

Wish I could read the other witness's name, but I think that Janet has been a big clue for the OP to find out who she was.

Sad that she died so young wasn't it,and that she never got to appear on any census after marriage either.

No Carol,  that is normally my excuse, but not at this time of the day.

Strange thing is I can not find Janet or Margaret on any census either in England or Scotland.
