Here is Samuel Averill's will of 1807.  I assume that as you already have the inventory that you know that Jane Lawton took out a prosecution against James and Thomas Averill on 29 May 1811, just a month before the date of the inventory.

Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

Zen rabbit:

There was no will listed for William Stanton 1838, nor George Stanton 1723.  I made a note of the following:

Samuel Stanton of Hampton in Arden - 20 August 1838
John Stanton - Walsall - 14 October 1837
Frances Maria Stanton - Quoad bona (not known) - 7 August 1833
William Stanton - Newcastle - 28 April 1831
John Stanton - West Bromwich - 11 February 1829
William Stanton - West Bromwich - 29 May 1827
William Stanton - Quoad bona - 19 February 1824
Hugh Stanton - Austrey - 18 November 1823
William Stanton - Stafford - 1 October 1821

I did not search earlier than 1821 on a general basis.

BumbleB you are fantastic. The last thing I expected was for you to produce the will. Many many thanks.  I was unaware of the prosecution and will take another look on gateway

It states that the executors are his sons, not grandsons as I thought. Strange that I cannot find a baptism for them.  Looks as if this may be my wealthiest ancester so far.

Once again, thank you.

Julie

I hadn't really intended to transcribe it all, but once I started reading it, it seemed only natural to write it all out for you.  The spellings, by the way, are the original ones, not mine  ;D  I must admit that I was a bit surprised when I started to transcribe it, that he was a weaver - my lot were weavers in Yorkshire, but they certainly didn't own all those houses and land.  :o

I made a comment to the staff there about how wealthy he seemed to be, and that is when they came up with the prosecution, so I just HAD to look at it, to see if there was anything else I had to write up for you.  But it just said that Jane Lawton, or a lawyer on her behalf, had taken out a prosecution and the date was exactly a month prior to the date when the inventory was signed.  They were both in the same packet.

Glad you enjoyed it.

Sue

I think I will have to do a lot more research into Samuel.  Maybe he inherrited it all?  I have found 13 baptisms for his children and then their is Thomas and James.   What a busy man lol.

You'll be pleased to know that one of the wills was very relevant, with all names of children and brother of William Stanton, to the family line I had just discounted :(
That's sods law that is.
