Brock family, of Sanday, Orkney
« on: Thursday 27 January 11 18:41 GMT (UK) »
My Brocks were living in the parish of Cross, Sanday, at the time of the 1841 Census.  Their address is given as the Storehouse of How.

I see a hamlet called How in the south of Sanday, near the pier, and there seems to be a fairly large farm building complex there today.

What might the Storehouse of How been?  A barn?

Having consulted some older maps, I think I have a better idea of the location of Storehouse of How.

If you travel north out of the village of Kettletoft, towards the farmstead of How, there is a single building on the right hand side of the road, about half way between the edge of the village, and the farmstead.

This is the location marked Storehouse on a map from 1769.

Can anyone tell me whether this building appears to date from these times (or earlier)?
