Could you look for some mi's in Loudon- Kilmarnock and Loudon Parishes for me (the library link you gave has the call number - CS 477 K48)

Michael Cochran(e)- died/buried October 3, 1850 in Loudon, Ayrshire (born 1775)

Micheal's wife- Agnes Mair Cochran(e):  she died by 1829 ad was born 1778.

Alexander Cochran(e)- died/buried Sept 20, 1804 in Loudon, Ayrshire.  His wife was Mary Smith Cochran(e) and died in 1818 in Loudon, Ayrshire.

If they are not in loudon, they might be in Avondale Parish, Strathaven, Lanarkshire.  Seems they moved back and forth across the border.  The dates I have come from a family bible but there was no place of death.  How inconsiderate of them .

Hi, Pam,
You sound like you may be just the person who can give me some advice.  I've been researching my HOGGAN family, but have ended up with such a mess.  LDS shows my grandfather Alexander Hoggan, b. May 27, 1872 or 1871, in Bothkennar as the child of John Hoggan and Catherine Logan.  However, a family member who has done some research comes up with a whole different set of children for John and Catherine except for Robert Sneddon Hoggan, the eldest child.  On Alexander's tombstone in Canada his birth year is 1871 but the family could have been wrong....maybe.  What I'm very sure of is that Alexander had a brother Andrew.  The 1881 Census records show Alexander and Andrew as children of John Hoggan and Catherine.  So where do I go from here???  So frustrated in Canada!

This website has all the BMD online.  It is pay per view but very reasonable.  These are the original records and much more reliable than the LDS.
