Hi Pam,

Thanks for the reply.  I'm such a novice at this, I didn't realize there were further posts. Duh!   I realize now my frantic rambling to you was a bit strange, but I've become a scotlandspeople addict now!  My wallet is much lighter. :)

Don't know if this kind of lookup is what you do, but am very curious about the 1841 census in Denny for WILLIAM HOGGAN and MARGARET TAYLOR--married Dec. 4, 1827 in Denny. My great grandfather, JOHN HOGGAN should be about 11, and I'm hoping there are siblings, too.

Several who know much more than I, feel that WILLIAM may have passed away shortly after John's birth in about 1830, as there is a MARGARET (widow of William HOGGAN) married to a KIRKWOOD.  It's become quite a confusing little mess.  There seems to be no death certificate for WILLIAM HOGGAN.  I have John's.

Thank you for any help and I'll check back here more regularly!

Hiya Rosemary,

I'm not sure if the Denny film is in the library but next time I'm there I'll have a look.

It will be a couple of weeks I think as I've put m'back out and can't walk very well  :'(

I''l let you know as soon as I can.

All,

I'm locking this thread now as it is a bit of a false promise.  I've recently moved house and the library is no longer on my way home.

If there any MI I've either missed on this thread or you find is held at Edinburgh (please check the link in the first post) then PM me and I'll see what I can do.  But new job, new house and old back is making me slow sorry  :-[

All the best,
Pam
