Contact the Superintendant Registrar, 10 Royal Square, ST Helier, Jersey.

Currency is sterling!

For online research, try Jersey Heritage Archives.
http://www.jerseyheritagetrust.jeron.je/archive.html and search by name.

But probably best to ask someone local to do some searching for you.

Be warned - certificates from here cost £20 each, that's about 40NZD.

The only on-line records are at the website on the reply above, you will find St Helier baptisms 1842 to about 1905 and also any wills that are at the Archive. Another site you may find of use is www.guernsey-society.org.uk/donkipedia/index.php5?title=Jerripedia

To find BMDs it is necessary to look through the indexes, however it is then possible to go and look at the certificates at no cost. Unfortunately I'm away for the next 6 weeks (NZ funnily enough) but Stewart may be able/willing to help you.

A year ago (or so) before I found the helpful people on RootsChat, I enlisted the services of the Channel Islands Family History Society.

I was working at that time, and quite happy to pay.  ;)

In fact I was so pleased to find anyone able to help, that I donated any unused portion of the money I sent to CIFHS.

So, there's another route for your research.

I do travel to Jersey once or twice a year, but rarely have time free to visit the Archives.
Last time I had a later flight home on the Monday, and spent a few happy hours searching the census records. Found my family in 1841, badly transcribed. SO a successful day!
