John BAXTER was buried at Whaplode 21 Feb 1841 aged 41.

Perhaps he was bap 11 April 1797 Holbeach (of John and Sarah).  Not John's first marriage - he was widower ... Sarah was nee BAXTER.

 Redroger, I haven't had any success with contacts I've made to relations of Tamar and Alfred, so I haven't confirmed her link to our Baxters.  I believe you are correct about a generation missing.  We will have to do some more work on our Baxter line.

Agreed, Andrew suggests (probably correctly) that some of the earlier stuff I have on my trees may be wrong. These Baxters fit well enough with what we know about the location of the Stantons in Heckington, the Eatherds in Holbeach, and the location of my Burton ancerstors in Pinchbeck etc.

I think my line is correct, there are only about 20 years between each generation.

Mary Ann Stanton 1821-1878 married 10 March 1842 at Boston

William Stanton b 9th Jan 1570 South Somercotes married Margaret Benson, William's father Edmund Stanton. On reflection though by no means impossible it does look a long move from South Somercotes to the Bourne area.

Lizzie, after a further check I don't have the names of the brides of either of the John Stanton's you mention, neither do I have any trace of a Mary Ann Stanton b1821, let alone her marriage. Can you help please?

Roger - My Stanton line includes  Ralph born Moreton by Bourne in 1601.  I wonder, therefore, if we have the wrong parents for him.

There is a William Stanton who married Margaret Benson in 1600 in South Somercotes.   The old IGI has the date as 21 July 1600, but the new site has the date as 21 April 1600.  However, what is interesting is that, on the new site, there is a marriage of a Wm Stenton on 17 April 1599 in Moreton by Bourne to an Elizabeth Little.  

So perhaps we've been following the wrong Stanton family.  William Stanton who married in South Somercotes appears to have had the following children:

John Stanton - Christening: 17.10.1600 South Somercotes, Lincoln
Marie Stainton - Christening: 22.5.1608 South Somercotes, Lincoln
Dorothye Stanton - Christening: 18.11.1601 South Somercotes, Lincoln,  
Anne Stanton - Christening: 2.12.1604 South Somercotes, Lincoln

William Stenton appears to have had 8 children, although one of these was born before William married, so may have been the daughter of a different William.  All baptised at Moreton by Bourne.

Anne Stenton – christening 18.10.1595  (I think this one is probably the child of a William Stenton who married in Moreton by Bourne in 1593 to an Isabelle Chamberlain.  Could be the same man and his first wife died).

John Stanton (1770-1850) my 4 x g.grandfather married an Elisabeth Northern on 10 December 1795 in Heckington.  They had 12 children.  The second one was John Stanton (1799-1841)

John Stanton (1799-1841) my 3 x g.grandfather married Frances Chapman Cawthorn on 22 November 1820 in Pinchbeck.

Mary Ann Stanton (1821-1878) eldest daughter of John and Frances, my 2 x g.grandmother married George Reuben Mumby on 10 March 1842 in Boston.
