Irish birth 1860
« on: Monday 31 January 11 14:58 GMT (UK) »
I have been researching my Irish great grandmother for some time and have had some very good results but as she was born about 1860 and was a Roman Catholic i have been unable to verify her birth . I have her marriage certificate showing marriage in Ballylongford Kerry in 1884 and her father as Michael Scanlan (dec`d) her name was Hanoria Scanlan and she married a Royal Marine, Giles Cooke . I am assuming from this that she was born in Ballylongford (maybe wrongly)Do you think I could obtain any more information by writing to the priest of the church there ? Is this done ? Any advise please .
 Catherine
Scanlon (Ballylongford)   Hehir   Cook

Have you already tried searching the parish records for Co. Kerry at www.irishgenealogy.ie ?
