Birth Look Up
« on: Monday 31 January 11 16:39 GMT (UK) »
Desperate to find my ancestor Philip Malone, got a clue he might be from Aghamore, Sligo. According to his marriage certificate he was born in 1842, his fathers name was William and his mothers name was Catherine, that is all i know.
Can anybody help?

Full civil registration started in Ireland in 1864, so you would need to check what parish records are available. Do you know which religion your Malone family were ?

There's two townlands with the name : Aghamore Near and Aghamore Far, and they are beside each other an just over 4km south east of Sligo town. The Civil and RC parish for the area is St. John's. Baptism and marriage  records for the parish only go back to 1858, so a little too late to include details on Philips baptism.

See : RC Parish of St. John, Sligo   (Irish Times)

It looks like Sligo Heritage (part of the Irish Family History Foundation / IrishRoots) may have records for the parish going back further than the films in the National Library - about 1831.

See the list of sources on their (pay) website at this link  I believe St. John's RC is listed as just 'Sligo'
