Woolwich Old Cemetery
« on: Tuesday 01 February 11 20:24 GMT (UK) »
Hi

My great, great, great Uncle Edward Dorbon was buried at Woolwich Old Cemetery on Kings Highway in 1881.

If ever anyone is visiting the Cemetery, could they look up his grave for me.  He was buried in Y section, plot 430.

I know this is a really big ask as I have no idea how big the cemetery is (although looking at the map I suspect it is quite a size) and how easy it would be to locate his plot.  I also don't know whether he had a headstone.

Any help would be very much appreciately

Hi Anne-Marie

Have you contacted the cemetery to find out if the plot has or had a headstone?

http://www.greenwich.gov.uk/Greenwich/CommunityLiving/BirthsDeathsMarriages/DeathAndBereavement/ContactDetails.htm

As you have the name, date and plot details, the staff there should be able to tell you quite easily.

Hi

Thank you both for your replies.

The information I have is via the Cemetery offices (and they were extremely helpful).  I didn't think to ask about the headstone as well ::)

I'll get back on to them again!!!

Thanks again
