James DOOLEY/Ann FRENCH
« on: Sunday 17 April 05 15:28 BST (UK) »
This is something of a 'needle in a haystack' type of enquiry.

My children's paternal Gggfather was a James DOOLEY.  His children were born from about 1859 to say 1879/1880 in Victoria, Australia.  From the birth certificates of those who were registered, it seems that he was b ca 1837 in Newry, Co Down.

When he died in Oct 1880 in Victoria, Australia aged ca 42, his death certificate listed his parents as James DOOLEY, labourer and Ann FRENCH, and said that he had been 37 years in Victoria.

Obviously this would mean that he came to Australia as a tiny tot - but no trace of those parents has been found in Victoria.

I thought I would post this skeletal information just in case anybody has any clues or ideas ...
