Hi,
I am trying to find out if  John Grieve McCreath born in Dunure Ayrshire Scotland c 1888 went to Canada around  1920. I believe he was married by this time and his wifes name was Sarah but whether they had a family by this time I don't know.

Thanks in advance for any help

His Form 30 also says he was going to join his brother-in-law Thomas Brown in Lachine, Quebec and his closest relative in the UK was his mother, Mrs. John Gibson of Dunare. Sarah's Form 30 says she going to join her sister, Mrs. T. Brown.

The Drouin Collection has a burial for John Grieve McCreath in the Westmount (United Church, Melville) parish records. He died 19 Dec 1937 in Montreal General Hospital and was buried in Lakeview Cemetery in Pointe Claire, Quebec on 21 Dec 1937. It says his wife was Sarah Eaglesham and his parents were Robert and Katherine McCreath. One of the witnesses who signed the entry was Robert McCreath.

From the same parish records, there is a burial for Sarah Eaglesham McCreath who died 5 Mar 1938 and was buried at Lakeview Cemetery on 7 Mar 1938. She is said to be the widow of John Greaves McCreath and the daughter of James Eaglesham.

If you have access to Ancestry there is a family tree posted for this family. According to it Charlotte died in Montreal in 1978.

You can search Montreal directories at this site.  The family is sometimes under Mac.
Charlotte was employed as a clerk at the Star for a number of years and drops out of the directories in 1945 which might indicate the year she married.

The family tree that Jacquie referenced gives the information that Robert also used Bert and in the directories there are references to Bert when no Robert is listed.  The family tree also indicates that John (Jack) died in Mississauga (part of Toronto) Ontario.  The online archived Toronto Star newspaper (pay site) Pages of the Past might pull up an obituary for him.

Don't know if this is Charlotte:
McCREATH, Charlotte M. (Young) Maitland, Goderich (Section F) Huron Goderich HU-3182-F  If you contact Goderich Library, thay may have a transcription.

Charlotte's husband Douglas Haines Moffat just died in '02, she had gone before... http://www.canadaobituaries.com/source/Deaths/Quebec/Archives/2002/ArcFeb02.htm
This is a bit faster way of searching the Montreal directories, put Mccr & year into the search

Thank you all very much for all the advice and help . Perhaps one of you could point me in the direction of finding Charlottes brothers deaths John or Jack born c 1915 and Robert b 1917 both in Scotland.

My sincere thanks ,

Jessie
