David72 please contact me! I am Charlotte's granddaughter and would love to connect with you and your mother  :) you mentioned you are near Lakeside cemetery, I am in Pointe Claire and was also very surprised to find out that Sarah and John are buried so nearby! My aunt Kathryn (Charlotte's second daughter) speaks very fondly of your mother and would love to get in touch. You can find me on Facebook, or let me know how to contact you privately :)
Jessie46 so far everything I have read on this post matches with my own research. John and Sarah came to Montreal in 1923 with their three children. John did work for the city of Westmount as a gardener, and he did design the Westmount clock. Charlotte was orphaned by the age of 18 and went to live briefly with her aunt, before moving out on her own. She worked at the Montreal Star before marrying my grandfather, Douglas Moffat. They had three children: Linda, Kathryn and Diane. I am Diane's eldest daughter :)
I will be traveling to Scotland next spring to reconnect with my roots and will be visiting the area. Please let me know if you would like to get in touch!

Welcome to Rootschat. Unfortunately this is an old post (2011) and David doesn't seem to have been on Rootschat since 25 March 2012. If he still has the same email address he may get notice that there has been a reply on this thread.

I also pm'd him in case notification has been turned off, which can happen when the site goes "Boing" which is what I call the busy overload time. It has turned of several post notifications over the years. But he may just not be all that interested in this noting only 3 posts.

p.s. groom...I have always loved your avatar, please never change it! ❤ ❤ ❤
