Hello Sandra and Shelleyesq,

That is definately the the family in question. What you have found is wonderful and much appreciated. Will share info with my other relatives.  :)
Think the eldest son Michael may be the only one who didn't go to America, after the John's death. Wouldn't have thought Annie would have remarried in America either being in her 50's. Great to know there is probably family in the States.
Thanks again

Glad to have helped.

Did I miss something about Annie remarrying?

If the Paul & Mary Brennan that Sandra found were the right ones, I think this might be them:

WWII Draft Registration Card, 27 Apr. 1942
Paul John Brennan
2015 E. Chalton Ave., Philadelphia (The address 2442 N. 13th St. was typed in & crossed out)
Age 51, born 2 Sep. 1890 in Pittsburgh, Penna.
Person who will always know his address - Mrs. Mary Brennan, 2442 N. 13th St., Phila.
Employed by Phila. Signal Depot
Place of employment - Signal Corps Depot Annex, 22d. St. & Lehigh Ave., Phila.

Social Security Death Index -

Mary Brennan, born 19 Oct. 1895, died Nov. 1973, last resided Trenton, Mercer Co., New Jersey, 08610, Social Security number issued in Pennsylvania before 1951

Paul Brennan, born 2 Sep. 1890, died March 1969, last resided Trenton, Mercer Co., New Jersey, 08610, Social Security number issued in Pennsylvania before 1951

Hello m4773y,

There is a RAOGK volunteer in Mercer County New Jersey who says " I will also do lookup's of Mercer County Obituaries If you have at least the month and year of the death".  An Obituary may give information on the children, particularly if the 2 girls married, it may show there married names and we could look again for you.  Should you wish to investigate further, the link is below and it is the 2nd person on the list.

http://www.raogk.org/newjersey2.htm

Unfortunately there is no USA BMD Index to check whether Annie married or when she may have died - what records that are available vary County to County and State to State.

Regards
Sandra

Hello Kevin,

Your very welcome - pity the surname is subject to so many spelling variations - sure there is more to find.   Would be interested to see how you get on with RAOGK - Good Luck.

Regards
Sandra  ;)

I think I have located the Joyce family in 1930 (hoping Annie might have been with them) but unfortunately it looks as if Mary Joyce is widowed, Catherine (daughter) was a stenographer at Hotel and the son John (aged 16 had no occupation). So no further clues.

Great to see they done their bit during WW2.

All men of a certain age who weren't in the military were required to complete WWII draft registration cards.  It doesn't mean they were actually drafted or ever served.  The cards that are currently available to the public are referred to as the "old man's draft" and most of these men did not serve in the military.
