Patricia, thank you for that information. I am not presently aware of any Somerset connection but I will look at that very carefully.
Thank you so much for your time and help. I will let you know how I get on and share what I have with you.
Best regards,

Alan, thank you.Was that in NZ ?
I am not presently aware of any New Zealand connection.
The Frickers connected to me went from Cornwall to the Victorian Gold Fields in the 1850s.
Sadly,my source material of this maternal link in my family is packed and on its way to Tasmania from here in China.
I can't access it properly until I arrive there in about July.
Where was the marriage Alan ?
Do you have a Fricker name ?
Some Australian towns connected with the Frickers are Digger's Rest,Lancefield,Romsey,( all Victorian country towns.
I would be interested to know if any of this is connected to your Fricker.
Thank you for your time,I appreciate it.

I doubt there is any connection, the marriage took place in England to a maternal cousin, he deceased some years ago regretfully.  I do not know of any Frickers here in NZ but doubtless there are a few.

Triish,WOW ! right on the button !
I am certain I am derived from the brother George who landed in Melbourne on the Tornado in September 1856.with his wife and his brother and sister-in-law
Coghills Creek certainly is a place related to my maternal ancestors.

Working backwards:
My late mother was Norma Gwendoline Rose Fricker, born 17.10.1916 - mother Constance Gertrude Andrew and father George Herbert Fricker. She died 2001 aged 85.

There are two other siblings,Grace now about 96 and Charles, who died aged  about 91,just last year.
.
My Great Grandfather was I think a John George Fricker,School Master of Digger's Rest.

There was a Norman Fricker who died in the 1914-1018 Great War in France and my mother was named after him.Could he be descended from  Thos Fricker ?

My mother once had military discharge papers for (the  1791)George Fricker ,from the early/mid 1800s and I think he was discharged because of problems with his feet , ( going from memory).but I did not find them amongst her things when she died aged about 85 in 2001.She died in Melbourne,Victoria.

My grandmother,Connie Fricker nee Andrew,a daughter of medical Dr. Andrew and Mrs Secker of Edinborough,Scotland, was born in Clunes,Victoria in 1881.
George Herbert Fricker was I think younger than her but he died in either 1949 or 1950 in Melbourne.
My Grandmother,Connie died in Melbourne in 1975 I think,aged 94.

I am struggling somewhat without my meager research papers but I am sure of the above material.

I really appreciate what you have done to open up the lives of these ancestors of mine.
Your kindness and time is appreciated so very much.
Thank you !
Philip
