Young Family - Lacken, Co Carlow.

Hi,

This REALLY is a long shot but as the saying goes 'the dumb priest never got a parish' so .........

My interest is in a Ellen Young, born c1822 Co Carlow in the UK census. Her marriage cert in 1854 gives her father as Edward Young, Deceased, Labourer.

I have found a family from Laken who were Edmund/Ned Young, who married Elinore/Eleonore/Ellin Joyce/Joice. Not sure when.

They had Bridget in 1800, Daniel in 1802, Mary (Raheen) in 1805, Winny in 1807, Margaret in 1811 and there the trail ends as all records for this area are missing from 1813 to 1825.

I suppose I am crying out for one of two things. Either another site for the other records OR another way of finding out the information.

I have to say that this may not be the family of my 'Ellen Young' but it remains a distinct possibilty if only I could verify it, but how ??

Do you have any idea where in Co. Carlow your Young family lived ?

Not all parishes have records back to the date you need, so you need to know the area or parish to check what dates are available. You also need to know the family religion.

I presume you are looking at the parish records on www.irishgenealogy.ie ?

They dont have any RC records for Carlow and only include Church of Ireland details at the moment.

Hi,

I was looking on the Borris baptism records on the 'Roots Web' site. Borris covers the parish of Lacken where the family were living at the time of the other births.

I believe the family to be RC as Ellen married in a RC chapel in 1854.
