India marriage BS
« on: Friday 11 February 11 14:47 GMT (UK) »
I am trying to locate a more detailed record of marriage for abt 1815 Bombay.
I have been advised, early as 1825, it is unlikely that it will provide the names of their parents.
Has anyone advice on where to go from here? See attachments of Mary Ann Hatton m John Bury Curran 1815... ???

Hi Fran,

Do you have any info about where Mary Ann's parents were from?

I notice the second record states the surname Hallan - I'm assuming that's a transcription error.

Fran - as you've already found it's very unlikely you'll get any more names other than, perhaps those of witnesses.

The British Library has many Indian church records and as well as a searchable database for some of these offers a research service - that page also indicates what you can expect on the record:
http://indiafamily.bl.uk/UI/Home.aspx
and
http://www.bl.uk/reshelp/findhelpregion/asia/india/indiaofficerecordsfamilyhistory/ecclesiastical/eccrecords.html

Your profile doesn't inidicate a location, so if you're not near London - your local LDS family history centre could probably also obtain the film of the records - details of these are on the old FamilySearch website:
http://www.familysearch.org/eng/library/FHC/frameset_fhc.asp
