Hi Everyone

Thanks for the continued ideas.

I haven't seen the newspaper entries and would also appreciate the links, if possible.  Sometimes hard to know where to look out here in the Aussie bush!!

I had also thought of Bermuda, or thereabouts as I had found [a long time ago] a reference to a John Oxley Pitt Green coming from somewhere down amongst those Islands, but the date was in the late 1900's.  Wrote it down as a very odd co-incidence [2 bodies with same name nearly 100 years apart].  At the moment, the piece of paper is somewhere in one of the boxes in the house move [of course].  Nearly said a naughty word.

He has me totally interested and determined to find out more about him.  It also appears you all are also interested.

Once again, thank you.

Goodness you are a help :)

Just had a look at the British Library Newspapers site.  Found the entry for The Era, but no entry for The Standard, which I found odd.

The Era entry does look intriguing.  Am going to get up at sparrows twit tomorrow morning  ;D and take out a 24 hour pass.

Will let you know what I find

Dear Lisa

Found and downloaded The Era entry but could not find The Standard one.  Would really appreciate a copy.  I'm at (*)

Also found absolutely tons of stuff on this whole famiily - upstanding and well respected family, my left foot ;).  If they weren't in court for flogging a child, they were going bankrupt or floating companies that I wouldn't have touched with a barge pole!  Still it makes life interesting, I can add these to my 2 convicts, the father of John Oxley who lied about being in the Royal Navy and a great aunt who was arrested for child murder [she got off!].  Bit more fun than Ag Labs.
