Powell, Richard Thomas - Belfast

Can anyone help me confirm that my maternal grandfather, Tom Powell (1882-1963) died in Northern Ireland. I know from P.O. tel directories that there was a T.R.Powell living in Belfast from just after WW2, when he retired from the RAF, until the early 1960s. I was wondering whether anyone out there knew of him, worked with him in Belfast or at RAF Henlow (13MU) or had met him?
