In reply to Arranroots my lookup in Wandsworth was aged 12 in the 1881 therefore he was born circa 1869 in Clerkenwell which is what I though Lesaane meant rather than Camberwell and I think mine was right in the first place. If so he would be about 22 on the 1891.

There are many possibilities Al!

The 1901 census, now that I have seen it says C'WELL.

Now I have to wonder whether I have jumped to the wrong conclusion?

 Is Clerkenwell Surrey or Middx - I honestly don't know  ??? ???

Hi Arranroot, Clerkenwell is given as Middlesex but county borders change over the years and we cannot always believe what we read in the !800s, most couldn't read or write let alone know what counties they lived in!
