hi rr
personally i wouldn,t think it would come under light commercial if it is a chara it,s more likely to be under omnibus surely .
try and get there before june before the buddleia comes into flower if you don,t it,ll be festooned in flower and butterflies ;D ;D but like you say take it away and the thing willl probably fall apart before your eyes , it may well be it has a fabric type roof and maybe sides as well .    can,t wait to see what it looks like , just thinking about it it wouldn, t be one of the original black cabs do you think have a look at this site and see what you think www.lvta.co.uk/history.htm .

Trevor, My recollection is that there was no roof on the vehicle. Whether there had ever been a roof is open to conjecture? Inyend going next month, obviously a waste of time in the vegetated months.

Hi, I think that Pattisons were a company who made specialist estate and golf course machinery in the inter-war period. Somewhere I have a Country Gentleman's Assn. Brochure from the thirties which I am certain has details and pics of their machines. They were based on car running gear typically from Ford or Austin and if I remember rightly looked like rather old fashioned pick up trucks with modifications such as rollers in the place of the rear axle, and provision for pulling gang mowers. There doesn't seem to be much on the net, although I came across one mention on a forum that said they came from Watford way and had the name embossed on an alloy radiator surround, with a bonnet like a model-T Ford.
From what I remember of the brochure, they were like the result of a mating between a modern John Deere Gator buggy and a Model-T!
I'll try to find the old ad.
Fred  :)

I found a few pics by Google Imaging "Pattison Tractor"- If the link works, one can be seen here.

Fred :)
Added: Would this be the same one at the station? I thought the stationary engine/David Brown in the next pics looked rather familiar!

Registration EBH112 could even be the same machine as the one at Kew, if the photo was taken many years ago, even complete with the buddleia! I don't remember a visible number plate on the Kew vehicle, definitely the same style of bonnet. Wait for the photo, buddleia permitting!

It is the tyres that bother me Trevor, they look new on the photo, and my recollection is they were as old as the vehicle.Or cetainly many years old.
