Thank you Cathie.  I've checked on Legacy and Christening is the terminology that is used, unless I want to use LDS: Baptism.  As I'm not sure what is meant by that I haven't used it.

I think you are correct in saying that FH is very complex, which is why I'm probably having trouble with it.  I suppose if I was starting from scratch I would learn as I go along, but with thinking of moving from another program that I've used for years, it is difficult to think in a different way.

Yes, the Legacy page I posted is equivalent to the Focus window.  It does have the equivalent of a property box, you just double click on the name that is highlighted.  There are also pictures between below each name, each one of which can be used for notes, to add pictures etc.

Lizzie

ps.  I'll persevere with FH for the 30 day period.

What I should have said that looking at the pictures below my ancestors, I can see that Joseph had 11 siblings and Elizabeth his wife had 6.  They have both only been married once (to each other) and only had one set of parents.  That seems an odd thing, but if either of them had been adopted, it is possible to show their birth parents (usually mother) and then the adoptive parents.  That person would then be shown to have 2 sets of parents.

OK.  I've now changed the default on FH to christenings to match Legacy, but it hasn't picked up the info I imported from Legacy, so it looks as though I will have to import it again and over-ride the original info.  As I've not added any new info to FH yet, that won't matter.  There is a tutorial that was also downloaded so I've been working on those.

I believe Lizzie that baptism means baptism into the LDS church.

Hi Lizzie,

I've found this link which might help with the Christening/Baptism problem http://www.familytreeforum.com/archive/index.php/t-56851.html?s=705b193ec3de286f1c51d0cdf3a86e7b.  It might be worth trying with a copy of your gedcom file.

Yes, I realised that after I'd posted, Roger.  They only use baptism for baptism into their own church, so christening is the default for the rest of us!

Thanks Cathie - It's actually very easy to do!
