Hare family in East Indies
« on: Tuesday 22 February 11 00:31 GMT (UK) »
Hi,
Wonder if anyone can help?

Agnes McBeath/Macbeth/McBeth (dau. of Charles McBeath & Barbara Cameron), born Barony, Glasgow 21/11/1799
m. Stirling, Scotland 3/9/1820,
Joseph Hare, Corporal in Captain Burnside’s Regt., Sergt. & Bugle Major, HM 13th or 1st Somerset Light Infantry,
b. 1802-3, bur. Dinapore, Bengal, India 28/4/1829.
They had 4 children in India :

1. Barbara Hare, bap. India Office Ecclesiastical Returns, Bengal Presidency, India 5/8/1824
2. George Aikin Hare, b. 1/2, bap. Dinapore, West Bengal, India 18/2/1827, bur. Dinapore 6/10/1827
3. Agnes Hare, b. 4/4/, bap. Dinapore 13/4/1828
4. Mary Ann Hare, b. 13/7, bap. Dinapore 26/7/1829, bur. Dinapore 5/12/1829

Trying to find what became of Agnes and her 2 surviving children, Barbara & Agnes, after husband Joseph's death in 1829.  They would be 30, 4 & 1 year old of age.  Been unable to find them anywhere.
Any help appreciated.

Thanks,

Craig

25 May 1854 at Umballa

Agnes Nulty aged 28 (born circa 1830) father Joseph Hare
married Thomas Bourke aged 31 father Tom Burke
12 Apr 1858 at Meerut

Many thanks ShaunJ,

That's great information. Much appreciated. I thought the family might have left India after father Joseph hare's death, but looks like they continued there for some time. Mother Agnes Hare, née McBeath was my 2 x gt grandfather's elder sister.
