Hi

If you give some more definite information about what you know about William perhaps others can help you get your line further back.

This man?

1901 census RG13 1569 folio 62
144 Plaistow Road West Ham
William Fabers 29 Head Married Market porter Stratford Essex
Maud Fabers 26 Wife Married Plymouth Devon
George Fabers 5 Son Stratford Essex
Maud Fabers 3 Daughter Stratford Essex
Margheretta Fabers 1 Daughter Stratford Essex
plus 2 visitors

On an earlier census this man's father was Charles R Faber, a corn porter born in Whitechapel Middlesex

Hi

In 1881 he is with his widowed father Charles R Faber aged 46 and siblings.

RG11/1703/13/19

In 1871 Charles RW Faber 36 is with his wife Rebecca Faber 36 and their children at Godfrey Rd, West Ham

RG 10/1623/38/20

It looks as if William's mother was Rebecca. However there is no death of a Rebecca Faber between 1871 and 1881, but there is a Priscilla Faber aged 46 who died in the March quarter of 1881 in West Ham 4a 1. So perhaps her real name was Priscilla. This is likely as in 1881 the eldest daughter aged 19 is called Priscilla.

This information i have previously found but Im not convinced its the right line to follow. On williams marriage certificate to Frances Maude West on 25th December 1993, he is listed as age 22  (birth year 1871?) and a fathers name  of Charles JOHN Faber.

Does the marriage cert have his fathers occupation?

The only birth of a Willaim Faber that I can see for that time  is this one. You may have to order it to get father's name.

William Faber 1871 (sept-Dec) West Ham  (vol 4a 15).

So it looks as if Charles John Faber was his brother, not his father? Perhaps he got confused when ask for the name when he got married.
