1851/61 census look up please
« on: Thursday 24 February 11 16:26 GMT (UK) »
Could someone please try and find the 1851 and 1861 census for the following family.

James Sim born 1790, may have died in 1861 so might have missed the 1861 census.  He was a Timber labourer and lived at Seurie (Dyke, I believe) in 1841 census
Jannet, wife born 1789
Children Elspet 1817, James 1819, Alexander 1821, Margaret 1823, Janet 1825 may have died 1860 and William 1828.

Only Janet and William were in the 1841 census

If the parents could be found that would be great.  If the children are not living with parents it might not be possible to locate them.

Any help with this would be much appreciated.

Betty

Have you searched the online transcription of the 1851 census at http://www.freecen.org.uk/cgi/search.pl?
Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.

I tried Free CEN yesterday with no luck but since putting the message on the site I have found one of the sons, James is in the 1851 censuses.  He is married.  I believe he died in Australia.

Thanks for your reply
