Percy Alfred John Young- who were his parents?

i am looking at a family tree for my husbands sister in law. her family is broken and no one really talks to another so the infomation i have is sketchy. percy alfred john young married katherine freeman in surrey, all the info says on ancestry is surrey north weston. he married her october 1949. he died december 2008.

that really is all i have to go on. i assume he was born in surrey too. someone within the family has his death cert but we dont know who, and someone else has his marriage cert but again we dont know who. she could order another marriage certificate but funds are short, so i said i would post here first incase some has this man in their tree, or someone can find his birth.

The GRO tended in that part of the 20th C to only use initials for middle names...... and there's no Births that exactly match. He married as Percy A. Young.

Deaths online are only up to 2005/6, so we cant get an idea of his DoB from that either.

Unless theres a tree online that you can positevely Id him on, then its the Marriage Cert you need to get his Father's name, then perhaps his Fathers marriage to get his mothers maiden name etc.

Do you know of any other siblings?

thanks for trying to help guys. i have said to hubbys sister in law that the marrige cert may be the only way to go. i am awaiting a reply from the daughter of percy to see if she knows how old he may have been when he died.
 
but family fueds are at their worst when it comes to this lot, and my poor sis in law is trying to find out bout her family history and just cant.

ok i had a relpy from the daughter of percy and theres not a lot of info to go on other than she knows her dad had a brother called john!  not too many jhn youngs to look through then!!!!

she doesnt even know where he was born or his age although she does think that her nanny young (percys mum) lived in camberly for a very very long time

Hmmmm - Camberley would be either Farnham or Chertsey back then ? No sign of the names you want tho' ..

How about just across the border in Easthampstead (Bracknell today) Berkshire ?

There's a Percy A Young 1928, and a Thomas -J- Young 1933, both born to a Mother with Maiden name Meekhums ....


You really do need the marriage Cert too .... see if it shows Percy's Dad as an Albert ?

Looking at the earlier Birth Index, and the 1901 census, Mabel Henrietta Meekhums was born c1896 in Sandhurst - which is just north of today's A30 from Camberley / Yorktown and the Royal Military College... which in fact where they were enumerated.... her father Henry, a Devonshire man, was a 'Soldier Musician' ...

I know you want info. on Percy but to try and gauge his age I have looked at his wife’s details

She married Percy as Kathleen L J FREEMAN,
there is a birth entry on FreeBMD
Kathleen L G 1927 Eton Buckingham her mmn MAHONEY
there’s another birth 1922 Windsor with the same mmn Mahoney.

With that info.I looked for a FREEMAN/MAHONEY marriage.

As Mort said Percy married as Percy A YOUNG, so if they were about the same age I wonder if this could be his birth entry

katherine lillian j freeman born 1916 lymington sussex.

i would assume that they were a similar age but i just dont know.

im looking for a needle in haystack here, and your help is greatfully recieved

so post the full details shown on the Marriage Papers - their Father's name s & occupations, witness names etc.

please review the earlier posts as I have added some ideas about Percy's Mum ...
