Ancestor in the Indian Army
« on: Saturday 26 February 11 21:51 GMT (UK) »
Hello
I have come across an ancestor named Richard George born 1898 in Scotland.  In about 1917 he joined the Indian Army, Central India Horse, and remained until 1947 when he retired as a colonel.  I've been told he was a good polo player and played for the England team when they went to Meadowbrook, USA in the late 1920s.  Does anyone know how I can find out information about his time in the Indian Army.  His wife was named Phyllis.  I am unable to find any army or marriage records about him on the  Ancestry site.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Carol

Hi CaroleW
Yes, that information you have given is for the correct person.  Thanks.
I've been trying to find out about Richard George's Army career in India but without success.  Do you know of any websites that would have this?
Thanks
Carol
