I would have thought that perhaps one of the biggest clues is that a witness to the marriage of Robert John SMITH in 1841 was a "George Caleb SMITH"

He could be George Caleb SMITH baptised 21 Oct 1810 St George in the East son of John SMITH, block maker and Rebecca of Meeting House Alley (born 27 Sep 1810).

Robert John SMITH baptised 19 Sep 1813 St George in the East (same parents and address) born 18 Jul 1813.

Thanks Guys
Now also found George in 1871 and 1881.
Casalguidi:
do you have access to St Mary Whitechapel, Stepney please? Looking on the IGI there is a Rebecca Susannah Smith baptised 31 July 1814 to John and Rebecca, I am hoping she might be another sibling?
Thanks
Helen

Helen, that one was a weaver from Colchester Street.

Yes, I think the 1840 marriage for George (and his father) says mast-maker too ......... the two occupations do go hand in hand.
