Are you able to help me on this one?

Thomas Henry GILLESPIE died in 1915 at Cummins, South Australia in a railway shunting accident.

I need to know if any parents are listed on Thomas Henry GILLESPIE's death certificate, particularly his mother? Is his mother listed in the next of kin or as a dependant?

Thank you, Earlybird.

Earlybird, I guess you have seen his death notice in Trove Newspapers?

Dee, I'm reasonably new to this. I'm not familiar with Trove Newspapers but we have a lot of info regarding Thomas Henry's death (family folklore & info sourced by a cousin - I know he had copies of a newspaper article). We're trying to track his mother and I wondered if she appeared on his death cert that may give us an idea whether she was still alive at the time. She's very elusive! Can't find a death cert, burial etc for her or where she even lived from 1864 onwards. Thank you for your feed back. Earlybird

Death Notice for Thomas....
http://www.rootschat.com/links/0c3h/

This seems to be the only article mentioning Thomas.

Thomas didn't marry in South Australia. Do you know where he came from?

Added....now found his marriage......  :-[

I agree! This whole family history "thing" is highly addictive. There are a few other chores I should be doing at the moment but choose not to.  ;D

Again, thank you for making time to check your sources. I'm sure you've got plenty of other things that need your attention?

By the way, Thomas Henry GILLESPIE's mother was called Elizabeth Jane - but she could be listed under any number of surnames. GILLESPIE & HARRIS are the most likely ones, unless she remarried? She was born in 1842 which puts her at 73 years of age at the time of her son's death. It's possible she was still alive at the time.

I don't expect you to be doing the research for me but if you happen to "trip over" her I'd be very interested to hear from you again.
Cheers, Earlybird

Just spending a little time relaxing before the evening chores, Earlybird......and glad to be of a little help.

You may have seen this but it says that Thomas was born in South Australia.
Coming from BISA, it may or may not be 100 percent accurate. I can't see his birth, but I also know that there are lots of missing births from around that area.

Thomas Henry married Amelia Atkins in Moonta on 17th September 1888 (in her father's home). Very long story concerning Thomas Henry and his mother. Will get back to you with details but I must disappear for a while and prepare tea.
