Rous and Scaley in Scarborough, Yorkshire

Hi, I am new on this site  but I would appreciate any information on James Rous, married Ann Scaley in Scarborough in 1798.
I have birth and marriage data, but am trying to find more about who Ann Scaley's parents were. I think they may have been Thomas and Ann.

There was a reference to a Scaley, who ran a business in Scarborough in about 1800, I believe it may have been a wagon maker.

James and Ann's four children all went to Cape Town S. Africa, and I am a direct descendant of James Scaley Rous.

Are there any historical documents in Scarborough to the Rous or Scaley families I could access somewhere?

Any input would be most welcome, I don't have much time left as I turn 100 in 25 years from now!

Here in Baine's Directory for 1823 is a Rous...listed as a Traveller and a Scaley who is listed as a Coachbuilder:

Carol, Thanks a million for the pointers, I look through the various listings in the directories and this has given me some very good background information.

Ann Rous had a daughter Arabella Susan, and the A & A Rous in Scarborough showing them as Milliners fits what I have. Arabella married Esau Harrington in Cape Town 3 June 1846

James Scaley Rous and Thomas Scaley Rous opened a business in Cape Town in the 1830's as J & T Rous, dealing in Cloth  and Millinery.

They were Arabella's brothers, and she and her sister joined them in Cape Town, also involved in millinery.

Their father James Rous, born 1774, was son of John Rous and Susan (Hopkins). John Rous marriage to Susan in 1773 in London is recorded in Church records in 1773, and the Rous history records he went on the 'Grand Tour' that year.
