Hi

To lookup a marriage entry in the parish register - you have to know where the marriage took place (ie) which church

This is the area covered by the Newport Registration District
http://www.ukbmd.org.uk/genuki/reg/districts/newport2.html

I am not familiar with the St Woollas area but somebody may know which church would be the likeliest

I don't know Elizabeth Hignell, but I would really like to correspond with her.  Since I am living in Brooklyn, NY and Grandma never talked about her family, that's why I started this research.

As to where John Dimond and Mary Jane Hignell were married, I have only one supposition.  In the 1881 census, her Aunt, Mary Hignell is listed as the Sexton of Holy Trinity Church--her brother Henry lived with her.  Any chance Holy Trinity Church was the Hignell family church?

Mary Hignell, spinster, Sexton of Holy Trinity Church
(also head of household)

Hi

I read it as though her aunt and her brother were living with her (Mary)  in 1881 hence my confusion - apologies.
