Thank you for that information 'dobfarm'.   I can understand your reasoning regarding the second Christian Name.   I just took it for granted that the FreeBMD List was complete.   I'll follow your suggestion now and try to contact the Dewsbury Register Office.

Regards
Blooming loads of BMD's are missing in GRO Free indexs

My own brother death 1947 and Graddad are not in it! but were in the local register office also they will only send a certificate if the detail you give them are correct and match their records;-Ie father and mother's name etc. unlike GRO Southport robot system

In my opinion the marriage residence is not always the place of birth. Never forget Workhouse and overseers accounts records of birth

I notice that there was also a James Edward born at Dewsbury about the same time.   'Drat it'.

James Edward WALKER is a different child, baptised at St Phillip's, Dewsbury on 22 July 1889 as a son of Mary Jane WALKER, per the new Familysearch site.

He can be seen with Mary Jane and other family members in 1901 at RG13/4266/37/39.

Hullo dobfarm,

The info you sent is just about overwhelming.   I just can't thank you enough.   With your reply you have answered five of my questions in the one message.    Thank you again.

Hullo Dave,

I certainly agree with your 'possibles', because, if this James is the person I am looking for, he was in the Merchant Navy as an Able Seaman at the time.   Thank you, yet again, for your input to my problem.

Regards, Jim
