A Jean Marcon 27 (born abt 1841) was an AB Crewman on the vessel Gironde that sailed from Bordeaux to Sydney via Melbourne.  The ship arrived in Sydney on 16th November 1868.

Maybe this is your Jean August Marcon who may of got off in Melbourne.
