Been a long day then David?....

How about the Luton marriage of Decima Fullwood  to John Jackson 19 July 1787?

Thanks Tazzie. Talk about missing the obvious! I was struggling to keep my eyes focussed last night, but the good news is that I slept until 6.30 this morning, my first unbroken night's sleep in I don't know how long!

It would take  reference to the decree referred to in the entry in the London Gazette to get the background to the case, and it would doubtless spell out the precise details of all the people mentioned.

It seems that London Gazette was published 11th March 1836

Thanks John. http://www.london-gazette.co.uk/issues/19585/pages/219 and http://www.london-gazette.co.uk/issues/19394/pages/1168 show that Charles Fullwood of Luton who died in Feb 1832 (and who was buried in Luton on 22 Feb 1832 aged 68 ie he was the Charles baptised at Meppershall on 5 June 1763) had siblings who were living at the date of his death (sorry, I misinterpreted what was written) as follows: Elizabeth White of Southgate, dec'd, Thomas Fullwood of Pirton, dec'd, Charlotte Surrey of Codicote, dec'd,  John Fullwood of Kent Rd, dec'd, Mary Gregory of Hornsey, dec'd, and Decima Jackson now of Kent Rd.

All of these were children of Thomas and Charlotte, of Warwickshire, Meppershall and then Luton. Thus proving i) conclusively that Thomas Fulwood who baptised children in Warwick, Southill and Hitchin between 1763 and 1776 wasn’t the son of Thomas and Charlotte baptised in Warwicks in 1747 who married in Old Warden in 1773 and who then baptised children in Pirton, and ii) that it was the same Thomas and Charlotte in Warwicks and Meppershall

Doesn't of course prove who Thomas of Southill was the son of, just proves who he wasn't the son of!

David

The marriage of Elizabeth Fulwood that I hadn't found was to John White on 17 Aug 1766 at Friern Barnet

Terry, I see that you probably descend from Lyddy baptised in Hitchin who married in London, as did her sister Charlotte. Have you found what happened to the other siblings, or indeed to their parents Thomas and Sarah?

There's also a marriage by licence in Old Warden, next door to Southill, of Thomas Fullwood of Luton and Mary Inskip otp on 22 Apr 1773. Who was he?

Also & more specifically - who is she ? If she's not the daughter of William & Mary baptised 12/5/1742 -as she married Henry Dobson in 1766. I cannot find any other Mary Inskip of Old Warden that could fit to marry in 1773. I need to go & look at marriage licence transcripts at the library on Saturday to see if there are any clues (& might as well check out Fullwood marriages in Luton while I'm there)

While you're in there could you also look at the marriage of Mary Fullwood and John Parker on 25 Nov 1756 at Meppershall. Who was she? Must be connected to Thomas. Could she have been a daughter born soon after Thomas and Charlotte allegedly married in 1738, but if so it would mess up Decima being the tenth child (assuming that George Watson Fullwood bap 1742 as the first child, shown on member submissions, is real)

Thanks

David

Later - last request, honest - the burial of Thomas Fullwood at Luton on 16 mar 1792. tvm

David

Sorry i'm way behind you having not long been home from work. Thanks so much for you have all found today.
To summarise; I thought i was descended from Lyddy but doubts have been creeping in for some time and now you've discredited the Sarah Warren on the familysearch PR file i have even more doubts. I asked about Charlotte at the start of this thread to try and trace her movements and any of the other siblings of Lyddy.
Charlotte is the only one i have any info on, IE marrying Jonas Kershaw in Bishopsgate and having 4 children. Fanny Kershaw, 1793, Hitchin.  Charles, 1796, Hatfield. George, 1800, Hitchin and Elizabeth Deciema, 1807, Hoxton London.

If Lyddy Fullwood is my gr.x 3 grandmother i have her named Lydia marrying Thomas Riley 29/6/1800 St. Giles in the Fields, Bloomsbury then seeming to spend thier married life in Bermondsey, Surrey. Thier first recorded child being Mary Ann b. 1/1/1802. This is really where my main doubt is. Are these two women, Lyddy and Lydia,  the same person? As far as i can tell there are many people with trees on Ancestry who believe the PR files on Familysearch and have copied them willy nilly as i first did. The trouble is i can't find solid confirmation and having wasted time going down the wrong line before i want to avoid the same mistake.

Interestingly the London Gazette page that John found shows John Fullwood and Decima Jackson both of Kent Road, Surrey. This was about 1 mile away from where Thomas and Lydia Riley (nee Fullwood) lived from 1802, at least until their respective deaths in 1837 and 1845.
