Maitlands - yet again!! I never give up!

My husband's great grandfather Robert Maitland was born in Ireland in 1922 or 1923 (possibly Co Down - is there a place called Cumber or Cumber Town??) and married there before moving to England to work in the Durham coalmines during the 1840s.

Can anyone find details of his marriage - probably some time in the 1840s. His wife's name was Mary. His parents were James and Jane Maitland.

                      The place your probably writing about is Comber in County Down. Also I think you got your dates for Robert listed incorrectly by 100 years. Sorry I cant help with the actual info your wanting.

Don't know it there will be anything of help to you on the following site (you may already have checked out same):

Among other things...it mentions a James Maitland of Comber registered as a Freehold farmer in Cattogs in 1817 &1824 also a  William Maitland of Comber with land (?) leased from a Robert Maitland.
