Hi Cassiar,

To search the Church records I had to go to Armagh.  We had details in a family will (found in Scotland's people) of a bequest to the Church of Ireland in Kildarton, so we had a good idea of where to begin looking.  There was also evidence of Albins in Mullaghbrack so we had a look at the records there.  Previous to that my sister and I went to the Proni offices in Belfast and had a look at the records for St. Patrick's Church of Ireland in Armagh.  I've found details of my own branch of the family, but can't find relationships with other branches. There's a vague notion that they might have been Huguenots who fled to Ireland, but I can't confirm this.

Hi Connie,
I have Albin's in my family tree from the area you describe.  I am interested to hear more about William and Lydia Albin and their emmigration as I have hit a brick wall in my research.  I am interested as well in the change of spelling in the name that you describe.

My grandfather was a Robert married to Mildred, his father Robert married to Jane, his father William, wife unknown, birthplace unknown but approximate birthdate probably early 1840's.  I have found a William through the census records that could be him but nothing to link him properly as he was widowed and living alone in 1911.

I do not have a Stewart Albin in my tree but would be happy to provide you with any information you desire.  With so many Albin's coming out of the same place in N.Ireland it is sure that they are related somehow.

My family was from Mullabrack. My GG Grandmother was Sarah Albin - father Jacob and mother Sarah Anderson.  Sarah Albin married Andrew Erwin at Mullabrack in 1861. They emmigrated to New Zealand in 1863/64. The family story is that Sarah was living as a ward of her Uncle at the Bishop's Palace and Andrew was a stonemason on the estate. Don't know how true this is (might be a bit of the blarney) but it might also tie in with James Albin who was sexton of the church???? Can anyone please help with more info for this family?

I believe Sarah had at least 2 sisters.

Marriage, 12 May 1858, Mullabrack, Armagh, Ireland
Thomas Fullerton, 21, father- James Fullerton
Frances Matilda Albin, 21, father- Jacob Albin

Marriages, 25 Dec 1868, Mullabrack, Armagh, Ireland
George Whitten, father- Robert Whitten
Eliza Jane Albin, father- Jacob Albin

It also seems that Sarah named her own daughters after these sisters .

Hello,

I am also researching the Albin family from County Armagh.

David Albin (born about 1813) and Mary Waugh (born 1822) were married in 1843.  They moved to Mississippi between 1850 and 1854.

In an old family document, it was said that the Albins came over with the Waughs and Fordes.  I may have found a sister of David Albin named Margaret Albin (born 1826) who married James Francis Forde (b. 1825).  I am unsure that they are brother and sister, but am pretty sure that they are related.  Margaret's father is listed as Robert Albin (from a marriage record).

David and Mary Albin had a son named Robert Albin (born 1849) in Portadown.  He is my 2nd great grandfather.

Any information or direction that others can give me would be very welcome.  I would also be happy to share what I have so far with others that might be interested.

Sincerely,
Randal Hansen

Surnames: Albin, Waugh, Forde

Dear Conlab,

Sorry to gate-crash your Albin Family Tree  :)

I am not to sure if we have contacted each other before. I have been researching my family tree for 25 years.

Some of my descendants are Albin and from Armagh with links to Kildarton. I am from Melbourne and I am wondering if you would like me to send you just one page of two letters which were sent to us here in Melbourne, 125 years ago from another closely related Albin family member. The letter was sent to my gg grandfather, John Albin, who was living in Bendigo. This particular page is easy to read and in pristine condition. The author also mentions some other, very odd, family names related to the Albin's from Armargh which will define my side of the Albins.

I look forward to your reply.

Kind regards
Steve

Can you see a little green scroll under my user name/avatar on left side of my post? if you can see the scroll it's working now if not, make 1 more post and PM system should work.

Dear Members,

I am trying a new approach to find someone from the Albin Family Tree with links to Armagh and Kildarton.

Please find attached a single page of a letter sent to the Albin family from Bendigo in 1886 which mentions two other names living with the relatives in Armagh. This letter is also from an Albin lad living in Ottawa. This pristine letter is 125 years old and is easy to read.

Kind regards
Steve
