Edward Kinsey c1800
« on: Tuesday 08 March 11 09:05 GMT (UK) »
I am trying to trace the baptism record of Edward Kinsey who was born c1800 in Wacton Herefordshire.

I have deduced this from various references on census returns but I have now hit a brick wall and cannot trace a baptism record.

He married a Alathea CheeseWest .

Any help appreciated.

Sue

Spent a few hours at Herefordshire Archives yesterday and the following might be of interest:

Edward Kinsey, the son of John Kinsey and his wife, Elizabeth (nee Williams) was baptised at Wacton, Herefordshire on 29/1/1800. His siblings were also baptised at Wacton -John on 8/6/1793 (aged 2), William Henry on 28/1/1795, Mary (my GGGrandmother) on 9/11/1796, Harriott on 7/11/1803, Joseph William on 2/6/1806 and Jane on 15/12/1808.

Edward's father, John, was the son of Thomas Kinsey and his wife Mary (nee Williams). Rev Thomas Kinsey was the officiating curate at Wacton from 1764-1801. Their two children were Elizabeth (bap. Kington, Herfordshire) on 24/7/1764) and John (bap. Wacton 11/11/1766)

Hope this helps.

Pete

Today at Hereford Archives, I spoke with someone who was researching THOMAS KINSEY, clergyman of Edvin Ralph, Wacton & elsewhere. I hope that he eventually sees this message.

Diocese of Hereford
Letters of Administration
On 21 August 1802, Letters of Administration were granted to MARY KINSEY (s) of the parish of Wacton in the County of Hereford, widow & relict of the deceased, on the deceased estate of THOMAS KINSEY late of Wacton, clerk, who died intestate.
MARY KINSEY was one of the bondsman
The other two bondsmen were JOHN OWEN of the City of Hereford, serjeant at mace, and JAMES JONES of the City of Hereford, grocer.
The value of the estate was sworn to be under £300.

Rev. Thomas Kinsey was buried at Edvin Ralph on 25 March 1802.  A reasonable search of the Hereford Journal failed to discover a report of his death.

If anyone knows the details of the baptism of Rev Thomas Kinsey or simply of the names of his parents, I would greatly appreciate the details.

I do have a little further information about Rev Thomas Kinsey (but not about his family).

Thank you for all this information Jean - we appreciate it. :) We would be grateful for any other information you have on Thomas Kinsey. We do not know the names of his parents or where he was born but we do know from the marriage licence details that he was 29 when he got married in 1763 so he was born c 1733/1734.

If we find out any other info we will let you know.
