Baptisms Creeting St Peter

Can someone tell me how I might find baptisms for Creeting St Peter, near Stowmarket please?

You dont say what time frame you are looking for, if pre 1837 have you tried the IGI

I'm looking for baptisms of these 3 people, all born at Creeting St Peter:

Ellen Elizabeth Fox b. 1877
Elizabeth Ellen Fox b. 1879
Marjoram Fox b. 1881


I haven't tried IGI because my understanding is that it often unsourced and unreliable. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

The dates are much later than I thought so probably would not appear on the IGI  most but not all entries stopped at 1837 when registration came in.

Ellen Elizabeth Fox b. 1877
Elizabeth Ellen Fox b. 1879
Marjoram Fox b. 1881

These would all have birth certificates, failing finding them on the parish register you can send for them.  Also what about the census's have you tried finding them there

Oh, I see; too late for IGI. Yes, I have the census info and even a birth cert. but what I'm after is confirmation of faith - whether or not C of E.

Do you know how I can access Parish registers?

There is a double entry for Ellen Elizabeth Fox but looking and enhancing the original it reads   March q. 1878 Stow 4 a - 837

I havent found any online registers as yet but I am sure someone from the Suffolk area on here will know more than me , if not they will be held at the Suffolk records office.

Oh, is this the birth registration? I already have a certificate which shows that Ellen's birth was registered in 1878 (born Nov 1877). But it's the baptism I'm after. Thanks anyway.

If all else fails why not contact the current reverend of the church from the link I posted.

It might be that the registers are still held by the actual church. 


There is a look up service here but it only says St. Marys Creeting not St.Peters
