I have been unable to find any trace of the family in 1901.

I noticed in 1899 that his wife was Margaret but I expect you know that and that he died in 1910 .

Strange about the 1901 Census !!!

i have him on the 1881 census with wife mary at 80 union street carlisle  st cuthbert without botchergate could you do a 1871 census look for him please

his wife was margaret duff they married in 1864 in carlisle
there is a maxwell kirkpatrick on the 1871 census with wife mary but he was born 1842 in stanwix,cumberland
your one is with margaret in 1871 in carlisle
