Hi Dudley
The main Pyne reference I have with Manchester is the family of James Kendrick Pyne, who was an organist at Manchester Cathedral, and while living there had several children born there, including Phoebe in 1884, John in 1887, Oliver in 1883 etc.. I believe James had at least 12 children, and was married to Agnes Ireland. I can push back James' family for a further 2 generations with soem well know musicians as members of the family.

If you have any names or dates to go on I could do some further digging.

The name is generally a westcountry one with most Pyne families tracing back to Devon or Somerset.

Regards

Jeremy

Thanks Jeremy,

I'll PM you with details as a daughter of a James Pyne married my great-uncle in the late 1920s and he was still alive a few years ago.  The music side is interesting too.
