Hello Lyn  :)

What info are you after?  What dates are we talking about ?

There are 155 Le Poidevin on the 1901 census: no Hilda or May but several Thomases.

Happy to help with a bit more to go on, although after 1901 you will need to look at 1837online.

kind regards, Arranroots  ;)

Hi Arranroots. thanks for the reply. I have found one marriage for May in Surrey Mid E,  Ap-June 1946. I know there was a sister Hilda and a brother called Tom. I think he was the eldest. I know Hilda ran a boarding house with her husband on the outskirts of St Peter Port. I would say the dates I am looking for are pre 1946. Tom moved to Coventry in England but don't know when. Sorry I can't be more help. Thank you..........Lyn

Hello again Lyn

I don't know much about 20th century research, but in addition to 1837online I have seen the following recommended:

* - electoral registers, if you know what area your relatives are likely to be in

* - sites such as:

http://www.missing-you.net/index.php

or

http://www.friendsreunited.co.uk/

Good luck!  :)

I know this thread is years old but I'm hoping someone will pick up on my reply!  My husband is Christopher Le Poidevin, his paternal grandfather is the Tom you talked about who came to Coventry during the war.  He married (twice!) and had 5 children, 3 boys and 2 girls.  The second oldest boy, Paul is my father-in-law.  There are lots of grandchildren too.  Sadly Tom passed away in the 80s (about '88 I think). Do you have any information on the rest of his family from Guernsey?

Hi there newle
I don't know how many psotings you have made on the site. You have to do 3 to send a personal message. If you can pm, please contact me and maybe I can give you some info. I remember Tom. He was such a nicely spoken man.
Regards Lyn

Hi arranroots
Thanks for taking the time to again add info to my posting. Have tried the link http://www.missing-you.net/index.php and have found 1 entry for Le Poidevin which may well be a connection to the family I spoke about.
Regards Lyn

Hi Lynn and Newlepoidevin

You two are emblematic of the "genealogy isn't instant" theorem - and it was certainly worth the wait! Hope you have fun exchanging information.

Thanks for keeping details of living people off the main boards, as is Rootschat policy.

Kind regards, Arranroots  ;)
