I am also researching wafers from Co Wexford - mine are from the area around Courtown Harbour/Middletown/Ardamine. Would be pleased to hear from anyone with a connection to them.

My 3rd Gt Grandfather Patrick Wafer was from Wexford,Ireland according to the Wales 1851 Census. On his Marriage Cert to Catherine Morrisey who was originally  from Dublin Patrick`s  Father was Francis Wafer Shoemaker.I think Patrick was born around 1816 age on marriage Cert just states : Of full age.
Patrick & Catherine were married in Wales on the 26th June 1840 at the Registery Office Bangor & Beaumaris county of Anglesey .
I am sure Patrick was RC .
On his Death Cert he has the middle name of Joseph.
Patrick`s occupation varied mainly down as a Hawker all his children were born all over Wales which makes me think he might of been part of the Travelling community.
Can anyone help

It just so happens that the Bride Street Church parish register entry for the marriage of William Wafer & Maggie Cahill follows the entry for one of my ancestors. They married in April 1892.

New Street, the address for Maggie and the witnesses, was later changed to Parnell Street.

Thanks Shorts for your reply never thank you for your info.

My Gt grandmother was Margaret Naughter, her parents were Miles Naughter and Margaret Wafer, she was born in Ballygarrett, Co Wexford in 1837. She married Patrick Redmond in Dublin 1871 after her first husband, James Roche died.
