grandparents' marriages

 I'm trying to nail down a few details for a family tree and am in need of a few wedding dates and locations.
  Firstly, my great great grandparents, Robert Turnbull, born (date needed) in 1789, died July 9, 1834, and his wife Margaret Potter, born (date needed) in 1789, died Feb. 2, 1836. I can't find when and where they were married, but heir children were born in Jedburgh and Lilliesleaf.
  Then my other great grandparents, George Aitkin , born May 17, 1779 in Hawick and Elizabeth Turnbull born 1 Feb. 8, 1781, also in Hawick. Their marriage date and place are missing.
  Finally, my grandparents, George Aitkin, born Sept. 25, 1826 and his wife Elizabeth Turnbull, born Feb. 10 1829. They were married June 15, 1855 but I don't know where. Likely in the same Hawick/Lilliesleaf area. Any of those details would be appreciated. Thanks.

Have you tried searching on www.familysearch.org? There are a lot of Robert Turnbulls on there for that year in the Northumberland area.

George Aitken and Betsy Turnbull married in Lilliesleaf in 1855 downloadable from Scotlands People.

In 1841 George aged 14 is in Wilton with his parents.

In 1851 he is in Lilliesleaf aged 24 a lodger

In 1841 'Esther' is in Lilliesleaf  aged 12 and a servant

In 1851 Betsy is in Lilliesleaf aged 22 and living with brothers Thomas and Robert.

This seems to George Aitkin marriage in 1855.

George Aitken married Betsy Turnbull on 5 Jun 1855 in Lilliesleaf,Roxburgh,Scotland

On the IGI, extracted record, Robert Turnull married Margaret Potter 4/9/1816 Morpeth, Northumberland.

All great news. Thank you to you all. This is fun. I have some amazing personal diaries of several of these later folks' crossing of the Atlantic in the 1880's. They make excellent additions to family trees. Voyages for only the strong of heart and stomach. Very historical stuff.
