Hornsby from Fobbing
« on: Tuesday 15 March 11 20:22 GMT (UK) »
Hi I am trying to find the parents of a Richard Wright born about 1815 in Nevendon or Horndon depending on which census you look at . His mother was Charlotte ,and I assume his father died young as Charlotte is married to a Joseph Hornsby in the 1851 census .The 1861 census has Charlotte living with Richard and his family.Hoping for help regards John ;)

I don't know if this has anythinmg to do with your message BUT I have found the following

Dec qtr 1839
Joseph Hornsby
married
Charlotte Low
Orsett reg dist which covers the places you mention

Have you checked on 1841, there is a whole family of Hornsby plus what looks like twins with the surname of Low, in Corringham

Am I on the wrong track?

There is also a marr for Richard Wright
1841 June qtr
Orsett
to either
Charlotte Mayes Burn or Elizabeth Agerconf on 1861 Charlotte
Would it not be better to get Richard's cert, it should have his father's name, I would not like you to splash out from the info I have already given

Can you wait till I get to the Essex record office, it might not be this coming week but maybe next week and I will check the churches listed below for the dates given 1838 to 1841 which will include both Charlotte and Richard

I will try to find out if any Hornsby are buried in Fobbing church which I belong to, you never know the church warden might feel generous if I ask him, he is a friend of ours

I feel sure Richard would only have married in
St Margaret's  Stanford Le Hope,
St Mary's Corringham
or
St Michael's Fobbing if they both resided in any of these areas, unless they were catholic

regards

Just as a matter of interest

Fobbing St Michael have only 2 Hornsby burials according to my NBI

01/01/1828 Charlotte Hornsby aged 18, born circa 1810

08/03/1845 Charlotte Hornsby aged  26 born circa 1819

I will not go any further till I hear from you

A William Wright died Sept qtr 1837, Orsett, is this coincidence or may it have been Richards father?, just a thought

regards

Hi Louisa
Thanks for the idea about Richards Marriage certificate it rang a bell and low and behold I found that I had it  ??? .
Having found it I have a little puzzle you might be able to help with . The marriage certificate shows Richard Wrights  father was also named Richard a labourer and Charlotte Mayes Burns father was James Burn a doctor . No mention of either father being dead . As the 1861 census gives Charlotte Hornsby as the Mother , who would she be the mother off .I have also found Charlotte H. in the 1851 census living with Joseph and a grandson George Wright .   I was wondering if you have time when you visit the records office that you might be able to shed some light on my little puzzle  :-\ . Thanks for your help so far regards John

I am going to the ERO Wednesday

It looks a bit of a mix up with Richard's place of birth, you asked who George G/son aged 5 was, I believe he belongs to Richard and Charlotte, he is not with them on 1851 as a family

Please tell me exactly what you want me to do, I will give you an allotted time and hope to come up with something

Hi Thanks for the offer of your time . If possable I would like to to know who the wives of Richard Wright and James Burn are and how Charlotte Hornsby fits into the family tree . I would love to be doing this myself but living in Cornwall its a bit restrictive. Thanks again John

I cannot find Richard born circa 1815 on 1841 or his family, his firsrt child Charlotte was born 1841 Sept qtr looks like in Mucking, I will look for her baptism. Unfortunately as you know it is difficult to find much before 1841 or 1837 for regisrtation but I will do my best. How far have you managed to get yourself with this family
regards
